Petrochemical

Olefins, polymers, fertilizers, methanol and the integrated chemical complexes that produce them. We supply the heart of the unit and the wear parts that run it.

The shape of the work

Where we focus.

Petrochemical complexes are unforgiving environments — abrasive slurries, hot hydrocarbon service, aggressive amines. Equipment selection is half the job; certified materials and verified provenance are the other half. We supply both.

Our EPC work covers polymer trains, fertilizer revamps, methanol plants and the supporting utilities — water treatment, cooling, steam systems, instrumentation networks.

Failure modes we see

Real-world failure modes engineers encounter.

Compressor mechanical-seal degradation

Dry-gas seals on centrifugal compressors fail unannounced when seal-gas conditioning is undersized; monitoring N₂ flow and temperature is non-negotiable.

Reactor-feed pump cavitation

Cavitation on suction-throttled pumps in olefins service erodes impellers within months; impeller redesign or VFD control extends life materially.

Heat-exchanger tube fouling

Polymer-bearing streams foul shell-and-tube exchangers; on-line cleaning systems or twisted-tube designs cut downtime by half.

Analyser sample-conditioning failure

Process gas analysers fail when sample-conditioning lines plug with heavy ends; heat tracing and routine purge cycles avoid most calls.

Regulatory landscape

Petrochemical projects in MENA fall under the operator's engineering specifications (SABIC, OQ, Borouge, EQUATE all have detailed shelf documents) layered on top of the relevant ASME / API codes for pressure-bearing equipment. Functional-safety equipment (safety instrumented systems, fire-and-gas systems) requires IEC 61511 / IEC 61508 compliance and SIL certificates from a notified body (TÜV Rheinland, exida). National conformity schemes (SABER, ECAS) layer on for electrical balance-of-plant equipment.

Long-tail buyer questions

What buyers actually ask about petrochemical.

What seal-support documentation do you supply on dry-gas seals?+

API 692 plan documentation, manufacturer's commissioning checklist, seal-gas conditioning P&ID review, and on-site engineer support for the first 8 critical installations is typical on fleet upgrade programmes.

Can you cross-reference an obsolete Allen-Bradley PLC family on a 1990s petchem line?+

Yes — our cross-reference tool surfaces drop-in equivalents from current product families with confidence ratings. For SIL-rated functions we always recommend the engineering team validate the cross-reference in writing before commit.

How do you handle materials traceability on Section VIII pressure-bearing components?+

Mill test certificates (EN 10204 3.1 minimum, 3.2 with witnessed sampling on critical service), PMI verification at origin, NDE records (RT, UT, MT, PT as called out), and the manufacturer's data report. Owner-acceptance witness on hydrostatic test is routine.

Common procurement scenarios

What buyers typically ask about Petrochemical.

How do I source a high-pressure centrifugal pump for a petrochemical plant in Saudi Arabia?+

Start by defining your process parameters: flow rate, head, fluid properties, and operating temperature. For MENA projects, ensure the pump meets API 610 standards and is suitable for the ambient conditions. Contact suppliers who specialize in petrochemical equipment and can provide certified performance curves. Verify that the pump materials are compatible with your fluid, especially for sour service. Request a detailed quotation including delivery lead times and compliance with local regulations.

What are the lead times for custom heat exchangers in the UAE petrochemical sector?+

Custom heat exchangers typically have lead times of 12 to 20 weeks, depending on complexity and material availability. For TEMA-type exchangers with exotic alloys, expect longer durations. To expedite, provide a complete datasheet and ensure your supplier has access to raw materials. In the UAE, many fabricators can offer faster delivery if the design is standardized. Always confirm the lead time in writing and include penalties for delays in your purchase order.

How can I verify the quality of valves for a petrochemical project in Qatar?+

Request certificates of compliance with API 600, API 602, or relevant standards. Insist on material test reports and pressure test records. For critical services, consider third-party inspection during manufacturing. In Qatar, many end-users require valves to be sourced from approved manufacturers listed in their vendor database. Ensure the supplier can provide traceability documentation and that the valves are suitable for the intended service, including fire-safe and fugitive emission requirements.
